Curious Ava's 3rd Birthday Party

Looks who is 3.  THREE!  I can not believe it.  These last three years have gone so fast.  And now we have a sweet, fun, sassy, smart THREE year old. 

Ava decided that she wanted a Curious George (or Monkey George, as she calls him) party this year.  It made sense since she is obsessed with him.  I am certain we have seen every episode no less than 20 times this year.  When we visited our nearby Party City, I asked her what she wanted at her party.  After she thought for a minute she said "Chocolate cake, party hats, and lots and lots and LOTS of balloons." 
And so began the party planning....

Mimi and Papa  came over that morning to help me get everything set up while Josh was at football practice.  Ava won a t-shirt at the football game the night before and insisted on wearing it to bed the night before.

So we started blowing up the balloons. We had over 50 balloons on the floor, and another 25 helium balloons as well.  I think we nailed the "lots and lots and LOTS of balloons" part.

Party decor complete....I found some Monkey George books for Ava as well as a stuffed George to use for decoration.

(Please ignore the pictures on the built-ins, I literally threw them up there just trying to get a box unpacked.  It's a work in progress that has not even started yet.)

We decorated while Ava was napping, and she awoke to find the house all ready.  She was so excited to see everything!  And especially the cake.  We had to keep an eye on her to make sure she didn't stick her fingers in the icing while we weren't looking.  Silly girl.

The menu included Curious George (and Ava) favorites: Renkins fresh blueberries, Bill's bunnies' rabbit food, Chef Pisghetti's mac n cheese, Hundley hot dogs, Juicy Jay's juice, and Steve's lemonade.

I feel so blessed that we had so many people who love Ava come out to celebrate her birthday with us.  It means so much to Josh and I!

Gift time....I guess it really doesn't matter if you tell people they don't need to bring a gift - it happens anyway!  I totally get wanting to spoil this sweet girl.
